Elections for WAC's 2009/2010 executive team will be taking place Monday, March 23rd at 5pm, room TBA. Be prepared to give a short speech about why you want to serve on the WAC executive, what experience you have that would make you the ideal candidate and what you would like to see improved with the club (re-design current event, add new event, new responsibilities for executive, etc.).
All members are encourage to attend to support those running for positions and have a say in who will become next year's executive!
As always, there will be refreshments provided.
The executive positions available are listed below.
Roles and Responsibilities 2009/2010
- Organizing the schedule of events
- Organize schedule for club’s week presentation and sign-ups
- Hold meetings on an as needed basis for executives
- General member meeting in September
- Recruiting and interviewing for 1st year representative position
- Attend “Club Presidents” meeting
- Ensure all club initiatives are executed and help as required
- Act as a liaison with other university accounting clubs to promote accounting designations, competitions and events
- Make sure that gifts are provided for all speakers and event contributors.
- Submit all events on ClubsNet and assist all club VPs with their respective responsibilities
- Create the annual budget in September
- Deal with inflows appropriately from membership fees and sponsorships
- Reimburse Executive members as needed
- Ensure sufficient cash flow exists to execute initiatives
- Order and pay for food for meetings and events
- Responsible for all communications with club members
- Take minutes of Executive meetings
- Post all events on Career Central and Ivey eZone
- Manage relationships with CGA, CMA, ICAO and other governing accounting bodies
- Manage sponsorship agreements with the Deloitte, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Ernst & Young, KPMG and other accounting firms
- CGA Speed Networking Event
- CA Night
- Industry/ Careers Night
- Plan year-end events
Affiliated Campuses representative
- Manage relationships with affiliated colleges
- Promote events at affiliated colleges
- Maintain the clubs website (www.westernaccountingclub.com)
- Update the website as needed with event posters, club updates, newsletter
- Create all club promotional materials (posters, flyers)
- Responsible for creating the bi-annual newsletter
- Obtain articles from firm sponsors and other governing accounting bodies
- Obtain articles from club members and executives
